Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains what is stored in your browser when you use thefalcon.dev (the "Site") and how you can control it. It supplements the Privacy Policy at thefalcon.dev/legal/privacy.

What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small text files a website places in your browser. Local storage is a similar browser feature for storing small values. Both can be strictly necessary (required for the site to work as you asked) or optional (such as analytics, which require your consent).

Strictly necessary storage

These items are required for the Site to function and do not need consent. None of them contain personal identifiers, and none leave your device.

theme (localStorage) — remembers your light or dark theme preference. Kept until you clear your browser data.

splash_seen (sessionStorage) — remembers that you have already seen the intro splash animation in this browser session so it does not replay on every page. Cleared automatically when the browser session ends.

talent_popup_seen (localStorage) — remembers that the hiring popup has already been shown so it is not shown repeatedly. Kept until you clear your browser data.

flcn-consent-v2 (localStorage) — records your cookie-consent choices (Functional, Analytics, Marketing) and when you made them, so you are not asked again on every visit. Kept until you clear your browser data or change your choices.

flcn-consent-required (cookie, JS-readable) — set by the server on each page load to indicate whether your region legally requires the consent banner to appear. Contains only "1" or "0". Expires after 180 days and is refreshed on each visit.

Optional storage categories

The consent banner lets you control three categories of optional storage. In regions where consent is required (EU/EEA, UK, Switzerland) all three default to off; elsewhere, Functional and Analytics default to on (opt-out model) while Marketing remains off.

Functional

Enables storage that improves your experience but is not strictly required — for example, saving preferences beyond the current session. Grants the functionality_storage and personalization_storage Consent Mode signals.

Analytics

With your consent, Google Tag Manager loads Google Analytics 4, which sets the following cookies:

_ga — distinguishes visitors. Expires after 2 years.

_ga_(container id) — keeps session state for this Site's Analytics property. Expires after 2 years.

These cookies are set by Google LLC. Details: policies.google.com/technologies/cookies. Grants the analytics_storage Consent Mode signal.

Marketing

Enables advertising signals used for personalised campaigns. When enabled, grants the ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization Consent Mode signals. The Site does not currently run advertising campaigns, but the toggle is provided to future-proof Google Consent Mode v2 compliance.

How consent works on this Site

The Site uses Google Consent Mode v2. In regions that legally require consent (EU/EEA, UK, Switzerland), the banner appears automatically with all optional categories turned off by default. Clicking Accept All grants all three categories. Clicking Reject All denies all three. Clicking Customize expands the banner to reveal per-category toggles (Functional, Analytics, Marketing) so you can choose exactly what to enable, then Save Choices applies your selection. Outside consent-required regions, Analytics and Functional are granted by default (opt-out model) and the banner is hidden, though you can still open it at any time via the Cookie settings link in the footer.

Changing your mind

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the Site footer, which reopens the consent panel with your current choices preselected. Withdrawing consent stops optional cookies from being set from that point on; existing cookies can be deleted through your browser settings, which also let you block cookies entirely.
